hunter's chocolate chip cherry al'orange cookie drops

Ok true story here..My son loves to bake with me, he is seven. At Christmas time this past year he wanted to make up his own cookie recipe, so to make it a bit easier I allowed him to choose a cake mix for the base. He setteled on an orange cake mix. Then I allowed him to add whatever mixin's he wanted. He chose chocolate chips and dried cherries. He also wanted to add just a touch of orange extract. So I gave him all the ingrediants and he had at it! This is what he came up with. And wow they were really very good!!! *and by the way he actually named them lol

Ingredients

  • 1 box orange cake mix
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange extract
  • 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup dried cherries
  • - melted chocolate or chocolate icing for decorating

How To Make hunter's chocolate chip cherry al'orange cookie drops

  • Step 1
    Mix cake mix, water, oil, extract and eggs together in bowl.
  • Step 2
    Fold in the chocolate chips and the dried cherries.
  • Step 3
    Drop onto cookie sheet lightly coated with cooking spray.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Then cool on sheet for a minute and transfer to rack.
  • Step 5
    Decorate with chocolate if desired.
