Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons decors red sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon, ground
  • 2 tablespoons decors green sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make holiday snickerdoodles

  • Step 1
    First pre heat the oven to 400F. Then in a small bowl mix red sugar & 1 1/2 teaspoons of the cinnamon & set aside. Then in another small bowl mix green sugar & remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon & set aside.
  • Step 2
    Next in a large bowl beat sugar, shortening, butter & eggs with electric mixer on medium speed or mix with spoon. Then stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda & salt.
  • Step 3
    Next shape dough into 3/4-inch balls & roll in sugar cinnamon mixtures. Then place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step 4
    Then bake for about 8 to 10 mins or until centers are almost set. Then cool 1 minute remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Let cool completely for about 30 mins
