These are my families favorite, the recipe has been used in my family for four generations. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, light
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

How To Make great grandma's peanutbutter cookies

  • Step 1
    Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    Cream shorting, sugar, brown sugar and egg. Mix in peanut butter. Add wet ingredients to the sifted flour mixture. Mix until well blended.
  • Step 3
    Chill dough for about 30 minutes. Roll into balls about the size of walnuts. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, flatten with fork dipped in flour in crisscross pattern.
  • Step 4
    Bake until set at 375 degrees 10-12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen
