These are my families favorite, the recipe has been used in my family for four generations. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
    peanut butter
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, light
  • 1
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder

How to Make Great Grandma's Peanutbutter Cookies


  1. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
  2. Cream shorting, sugar, brown sugar and egg. Mix in peanut butter. Add wet ingredients to the sifted flour mixture. Mix until well blended.
  3. Chill dough for about 30 minutes. Roll into balls about the size of walnuts. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, flatten with fork dipped in flour in crisscross pattern.
  4. Bake until set at 375 degrees 10-12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen
