    sugar

    lard
  • 1 c
    molasses
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • pinch
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 c
    cold water
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda (dissolved in hot water)
  • 51/2 to 6 c
    flour

How to Make great grandma smielewski dark cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. mix all ingredients. put a portion on a floured surface. roll out to desired thickness (thin thickness crispy cookie, thicker thickness, softer cookie)cut out with floured cookie cutter. place on ungeased cookie pan.
  2. bake in 350 degree oven for about 1o minutes.
