2 - cakes of unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 - eggs
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup milk (can also use lactose free)
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

How To Make great-aunt annie's chocolate cookies

Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees, or 350 for longer bake time.

Step 2

Melt chocolate and set aside.
Step 3

Cream sugar and shortening and add chocolate.
Step 4

Beat each egg into mixture.
Step 5

Add, alternately, milk and dry ingredients.
Step 6

add nuts if desired.
Step 7

On an ungreased cookie sheet, place tablespoon size dollops of the mixture.
Step 8

Bake at 400 for 6-8 min or 350 for 10.
