granny's sour cream cookies
Betty's recipe box is a hive of old recipes. I'm trying to sort and preserve them for my kids. The desserts sure seem to out number the rest. She had a sweet tooth.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soft shortening ( such as crisco)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How To Make granny's sour cream cookies

Step 1Mix: shortening and sugar, stir in eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.

Step 2Sift in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

Step 3Grease cookie sheet. Place about a teaspoon of dough on sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until lightly brown. For a butterscotch flavor use 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar. For holidays use icing, sprinkles and nuts to top cookies.
