Betty's recipe box is a hive of old recipes. I'm trying to sort and preserve them for my kids. The desserts sure seem to out number the rest. She had a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    soft shortening ( such as crisco)
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How to Make Granny's Sour Cream Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix: shortening and sugar, stir in eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.
  2. Sift in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  3. Grease cookie sheet. Place about a teaspoon of dough on sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
    For a butterscotch flavor use 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar. For holidays use icing, sprinkles and nuts to top cookies.
