baking powder

nutmeg, ground

oats, quick cooking

How to Make Granny's Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Combine eggs, crisco, white and brown sugars and vanilla with an electric micer at medium speed until well blended and smooth.
  • 3In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Slowly add to creamed mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed. Add oats;stir. Add the raisins and stir again.
  • 4Roll into walnut-sized balls, coat with white sugar and flatten slightly with a fork.
  • 5Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until slightly brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 1/2 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  • 6Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
