I remember going to Granny and Grandpa's house as a little girl. Granny would always have something sweet to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter-flavored crisco
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
  • 3 cups oats, quick cooking
  • 2/3 cup raisins

How To Make granny's oatmeal-raisin cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Combine eggs, crisco, white and brown sugars and vanilla with an electric micer at medium speed until well blended and smooth.
  • Step 3
    In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Slowly add to creamed mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed. Add oats;stir. Add the raisins and stir again.
  • Step 4
    Roll into walnut-sized balls, coat with white sugar and flatten slightly with a fork.
  • Step 5
    Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until slightly brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 1/2 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 6
    Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
