I remember going to Granny and Grandpa's house as a little girl. Granny would always have something sweet to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter-flavored crisco
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    unbleached white flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg, ground
  • 3 c
    oats, quick cooking
  • 2/3 c
    raisins

How to Make Granny's Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine eggs, crisco, white and brown sugars and vanilla with an electric micer at medium speed until well blended and smooth.
  3. In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Slowly add to creamed mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed. Add oats;stir. Add the raisins and stir again.
  4. Roll into walnut-sized balls, coat with white sugar and flatten slightly with a fork.
  5. Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until slightly brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 1/2 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
