granny bites
We love shortbread cookies but are eating better, no sugar, no artificial sweetners. We found out that dark molasses is a great alternative as a natural sweetener, so I replaced the brown sugar in my recipe & Granny Bites were born.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup grandma's molasses
- 2-1/2 cup all purpose flour
How To Make granny bites
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit & cover cookie sheet w/ parchment paper. In a mixing bowl, cream butter & molasses then gradually add in flour until combined.
-
Step 2Pour out onto floured surface & roll it around a few times so that it's not sticky & forms a soft dough. Form into a mound of dough about 6-8 inch circumference, not a perfect circle
-
Step 3Use a small silicon spatula, a small wooden spoon or something the dough is less likely to stick to, & scoop off about 1 tablespoon of the dough & place it on the cookie sheet leaving about an inch between each cookie.
-
Step 4Bake on middle rack in oven for 25 minutes. Cool on a cooling rack until completely cool.
