Grandma's Tea Cakes

We prefer the cookies without the sugar sprinkled on top.
Ingredients

1 cvegetable shortening

1 1/2 csugar

3eggs

4 call purpose flour

2 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/4 cbuttermilk

1 1/2 tspvanilla extract
How to Make Grandma's Tea Cakes
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. - Combine flour, baking poweder, baking soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternating with buttermilk. Mix well. Stir in vanilla extract. Cover and chill 1 hour.
- Roll dough to 1/4" thick on a floured surface. Cut with 2 3/4" round cookie cutter (I use my biscuit cutter). Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar.
