Made sugar cookies using a recipe out of my 'Rural Arkansas Magazine'...recipe was entered by *Mary Ann Gwin Morman (lifelong resident of Ashley County). It is from her families cookbook: "Austin Family Secrets" NOTE:(PHOTO'S ARE MINE, OF MY COOKIES...CinStraw)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar (splenda or stevia)
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (sifted into flour)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream

How To Make grandmas sugar cookies...cin

  • Step 1
    Blend shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  • Step 2
    Add the flour and baking powder, blend. Batter will be thick, add cream.
  • Step 3
    Drop by teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in water.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle tops of cookies with a mix of sugar and cinnamon (I keep a shaker pre-mixed for cookies and muffins).
  • Step 5
    Bake in a 375°F preheated oven for 10-to-12 minutes.
