This has been in my family for 5 generations! They never get hard. Light and fluffy, just the right amount of sweetness. Once you try these you will never use any other recipe!I don't! Hint: The dough is just as good as the finished cookie!! I always think of my Grandma when I make these with my little girls, I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

How to Make Grandmas Soft Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350. In mixing bowl combine shortening, butter, sugar and egg. I use my trusty wooden spoon, using a mixer puts too much air in the batter and ruins the cookies.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well. The batter will be soft and creamy.
  3. Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Pat down lightly with you fingers and sprinkle each dough drop with sugar. Bake 8-10 min. Cool completely and store in your favorite cookie jar. Enjoy!Bet you can't eat just one!!!
