This was my g.mothers recipe. As a child I always looked forward to her special cookies. She is now in a nursing home n' couldn't tell you how to make them.. but I feel very blessed to share them w/ everyone.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    pecans, in pieces (small)
  • 1 c
    maraschino cherries (red)
  • 1/2 c
    coconut, shredded

How to Make Grandma's Cherry Winks

Step-by-Step

  1. mix first 5 ing. together
  2. mix the next 4 together
  3. mix steps 1 n' 2 together
  4. mix in remaining ing. ( make sure each cherry is cut into 4's )
  5. drop by the tsp. onto lightly greased cookie sheet 2inches apart
  6. bake @ 375 for 10-12 minutes
  7. MAKE SURE YOUR COOKIES ARE COMPLETELY COOLED BEFORE PUTTING THEM AWAY..THEY WILL MOLD IF NOT COOLED COMP.
