This was my g.mothers recipe. As a child I always looked forward to her special cookies. She is now in a nursing home n' couldn't tell you how to make them.. but I feel very blessed to share them w/ everyone.

Ingredients

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 - eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup pecans, in pieces (small)
1 cup maraschino cherries (red)
1/2 cup coconut, shredded

How To Make grandma's cherry winks

Step 1

mix first 5 ing. together

Step 2

mix the next 4 together
Step 3

mix steps 1 n' 2 together
Step 4

mix in remaining ing. ( make sure each cherry is cut into 4's )
Step 5

drop by the tsp. onto lightly greased cookie sheet 2inches apart
Step 6

bake @ 375 for 10-12 minutes
Step 7

MAKE SURE YOUR COOKIES ARE COMPLETELY COOLED BEFORE PUTTING THEM AWAY..THEY WILL MOLD IF NOT COOLED COMP.
