- 1 pound butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla pure extract (not imitation)
