Grandma W tended to change up her recipes so often the cards looked like scribbles! This was her recipe noted as of December of 97 (she passed away at 91 in Nov 00, so was still baking while aging!). You know if I said when old, I would have probably gotten a rolling pin tossed in my direction!

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3 - eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • - milk
  • - almond pie filling (not almond paste)

How To Make grandma w's almond rolls, iii

  • Step 1
Blend flour, powder and sugar. Work in shortening. Mix remaining. Add milk as needed. Make into 4 rolls (with almond filling inside). Bake at 375 degrees for 15-17 min.
  • Step 2
Grandma made these rolled up like biscotti. Then when cooled, glazed them with a little glaze with almond extract inside, and sliced them so you could see the almond nicely rolled inside.
