grandma ruth's pinapple cookies

My grandma sent this recipe to me a long time ago. I use to make them once in a while..If you like pinapple and a soft cookie, try these different ones.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup crushed pinapple, drained
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

Step 2Cream fat and sugars. Add egg. Combine soda and pinapple.

Step 3Sift salt & baking powder with flour. Mix all together. Add nuts and vanilla. Mix and drop by spoonfulls on greased cookie sheet. 350 degrees about 10 minutes.

Step 4These are best fresh. If you put them in a cookie jar, put wax paper between layers as they will stick together.
