my da use to make these for me in the winter months piping hot out of the oven and a tall glass of ice cold milk and I was in heaven. My grandmother showed my dad how to make these when he was but a small boy being the youngest in the family and the last to leave the house he would sit for hours and watch my grandmother bake. Daddy I miss you. you went home way to soon.

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds light brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 pounds crisco (melted)
  • 7 - large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 pounds quaker quick oats
  • 6 pounds all purpose flour
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

How To Make grandma pion's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies

  • Step 1
    cream together brown sugar and Crisco making sure all is well blended no lumps
  • Step 2
    add each egg one at a time blending well after each addition. then add vanilla,salt,baking power,baking soda,milk,and vinegar. blend well after each addition. mix in oats and flour adding each very slowly and blending well. last add the chocolate chips.
  • Step 3
    preheat oven to 350degrees drop by table spoon on to parchment paper or non greased cook sheet placing about 2in apart allowing for spreading. bake for about 12-15 min or until light golden brown.DO NOT OVER COOK! THEY SHOULD BE SOFT NOT CRUNCHY OR CRUMBLY.

    let cool on cookie pan for about 5min then remove to cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Step 5
    ONCE COOKIE HAS COOLED COMPLETELY ADD A SMALL SCOOP OF YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM IN THE CENTER OF TWO OF LEASE BEAUTIES SCRAPE SIDES WITH A BUTTER KNIFE TO SMOOTH AROUND THE EDGES AND WRAP IN PLASTIC CLING WRAP. PLACE IN FREEZER FOR LATER ENJOYMENT.
