I grew up eating these date cookies at my grandma's house. I always remember her every time I make them. The aroma of Grandma's kitchen... What a great memory.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

These are amazing cookies filled with spices, nuts, and pieces of dates. The cookie itself is soft and buttery. Using mostly brown sugar gives the cookies a chewy texture. Cinnamon is the prominent spice you taste, but there are also hints of allspice, cloves, and turmeric. We enjoyed the nuttiness of the chopped pecans and the gooey, sweet dates. It may seem like a lot of dates, but it works with this cookie recipe. We can see why Lora loved it when Grandma Pesek baked these.
