grandma pana's oatmeal drop cookies

One of my mom's "everyday" cookies. No special occasion needed, just a day when the Milk turned sour. (0: You may substitute margarine or butter for Crisco. You do not need to replace the nuts with anything if you take them out. This is how my mom usually made them as my sister was allergic to nuts... I had never had them with nuts until she made them with my daughter.

Yields 2 dozen 2 1/2" cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons crisco shortening
- 2 tablespoons sour milk
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1Beat egg with sugar and salt

Step 2Add melted crisco, sour milk & oats, blending well

Step 3sift & measure flour, then add baking soda & baking powder and sift together

Step 4Add dry mixture to wet mixture & mix just 'til blended

Step 5Stir in raisins and nuts

Step 6Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet ( these days I use parchment paper instead of grease)

Step 7Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for about 12 minutes ( we live at high altitude, so adjust baking time accordingly)
