This is a simple sugar cookie made with brown sugar and tasting like butterscotch, one of my favorites.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (no substitute)
  • 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • OPTIONAL:
  • - pecan halves

How To Make grandma carr's brown sugar cookies- butterscotch

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and mix well. Stir together dry ingredients. Mix milk into butter and sugar mixture and then add flour mixture.
  • Step 2
    Form dough into a long 2 inch wide roll. Wrap dough in foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight or up to 7 days.
  • Step 3
    When ready to bake preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice dough into 1/4 inch thick slices and place on greased cookie sheet. Press a pecan piece on each cookie if you like. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
