This is a simple sugar cookie made with brown sugar and tasting like butterscotch, one of my favorites.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter (no substitute)
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons milk
- OPTIONAL:
- - pecan halves
How To Make grandma carr's brown sugar cookies- butterscotch

Step 1Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and mix well. Stir together dry ingredients. Mix milk into butter and sugar mixture and then add flour mixture.

Step 2Form dough into a long 2 inch wide roll. Wrap dough in foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight or up to 7 days.

Step 3When ready to bake preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice dough into 1/4 inch thick slices and place on greased cookie sheet. Press a pecan piece on each cookie if you like. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
