This recipe I got from my mother-in-law. They love them. They make them for all the hoildays. They are super soft and packed with lots of flavor.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

COMBINE AND COOK 5 MINUTES. LET COOL.

1 c
raisins
1 c
chopped dates
1 c
water

CREAM TOGETHER

1 c
shortening
2 c
white sugar
3
eggs

THEN ADD RAISINS MIXTURE AND 4 CUPS OF FLOUR (IF SIFTED ROUND UP)

THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING

1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
vanilla
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
nutmeg
1 c
chopped nuts

How to Make Good Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1combine the raisins, chopped dates, and water. Cook 5 minutes. Then let cool.
  • 2Cream together the shortening, white sugar, and eggs. Then add the raisin mixture (when cooled) and 4 cups of flour.
  • 3The add the salt, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts to the mixture. Mix until well blended.
  • 4Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or longer if you like them browner.
