This recipe I got from my mother-in-law. They love them. They make them for all the hoildays. They are super soft and packed with lots of flavor.

Ingredients
- COMBINE AND COOK 5 MINUTES. LET COOL.
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup water
- CREAM TOGETHER
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups white sugar
- 3 - eggs
- THEN ADD RAISINS MIXTURE AND 4 CUPS OF FLOUR (IF SIFTED ROUND UP)
- THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup chopped nuts
How To Make good cookies

Step 1combine the raisins, chopped dates, and water. Cook 5 minutes. Then let cool.

Step 2Cream together the shortening, white sugar, and eggs. Then add the raisin mixture (when cooled) and 4 cups of flour.

Step 3The add the salt, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts to the mixture. Mix until well blended.

Step 4Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or longer if you like them browner.
