This recipe I got from my mother-in-law. They love them. They make them for all the hoildays. They are super soft and packed with lots of flavor.

Ingredients

  • COMBINE AND COOK 5 MINUTES. LET COOL.

  • 1 c
    raisins
  • 1 c
    chopped dates
  • 1 c
    water
  • CREAM TOGETHER

  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 2 c
    white sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • THEN ADD RAISINS MIXTURE AND 4 CUPS OF FLOUR (IF SIFTED ROUND UP)

  • THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING

  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Good Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. combine the raisins, chopped dates, and water. Cook 5 minutes. Then let cool.
  2. Cream together the shortening, white sugar, and eggs. Then add the raisin mixture (when cooled) and 4 cups of flour.
  3. The add the salt, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts to the mixture. Mix until well blended.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or longer if you like them browner.
