This recipe I got from my mother-in-law. They love them. They make them for all the hoildays. They are super soft and packed with lots of flavor.

Ingredients

  • COMBINE AND COOK 5 MINUTES. LET COOL.
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup water
  • CREAM TOGETHER
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3 - eggs
  • THEN ADD RAISINS MIXTURE AND 4 CUPS OF FLOUR (IF SIFTED ROUND UP)
  • THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

How To Make good cookies

  • Step 1
    combine the raisins, chopped dates, and water. Cook 5 minutes. Then let cool.
  • Step 2
    Cream together the shortening, white sugar, and eggs. Then add the raisin mixture (when cooled) and 4 cups of flour.
  • Step 3
    The add the salt, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts to the mixture. Mix until well blended.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or longer if you like them browner.
