What an ugly name for this good looking chocolate cookie sandwich!! Mom was attracted to unusual food names! I suppose you could change it to "Whoopie" because they look very similar, but I'll leave that up to your discretion!! Both of those names are too odd for me!! Enjoy!

Ingredients
- COOKIE:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 - whole eggs
- 1 cup sour milk (or buttermilk)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- CREAMY FILLING:
- 5 tablespoons sifted flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar (or 2 1/2 c sifted powdered sugar)
- 1 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make gobs

Step 1COOKIE: CREAM TOGETHER: sugar, butter, eggs

Step 2ADD: sour milk and boiling water

Step 3SIFT together: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cocoa -- then add to wet ingredients

Step 4DROP: by teaspoons full on ungreased cookie sheet

Step 5BAKE 450 F for 10 minutes

Step 6FILLING: COOK TOGETHER IN DOUBLE BOILER: flour and milk until it forms a thick paste -- let it cool

Step 7CREAM the butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.

Step 8ADD: the flour paste and beat again till fluffy, then spread between cooled cookie gobs
