This is my favorite gingerbread recipe. And then I love to decorate them. So enjoy the Holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed firmly
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger, ground
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • PREPARED ICINGS FOR DECORATING, OPTIONAL

How To Make gingerbread gypsies

  • Step 1
    In large bowl, beat margarine and sugar until light and creamy. Beat in molasses.; Combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt; Beat into creamed mixture until just combined. Form dough into ball. On floured surface, roll dough into 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out shapes.
  • Step 2
    Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned on bottom. Cool 1 minute on sheet, remove cookies to wire rack to cool completely. Frost or decorate if desired.
