ginger snaps
This has been in our family for over 60 years. One of our "go to" cookies! I've added a some chopped crystalized ginger to the topping for a little twist.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup shortenting
- 1 - egg
- 4 tablespoons molasses
- 2 cup cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make ginger snaps

Step 1Cream sugar and shortening, add the egg and molasses.

Step 2Combine flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Add to wet mixture and mix gently.

Step 3Chill in refrigerator for 1/2 hour. Take batter and roll into 1 inch balls. Dip balls in sugar before baking. I added a little chopped crystalized ginger to the sugar for a little extra ginger flavor.

Step 4Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
