My family love these cookies and ask for them all the time.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 - eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove, ground
  • 1 teaspoon ginger

How To Make ginger snaps

  • Step 1
    In a bowl beat shortening, soft butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add molasses and eggs beat well.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Mix slowly into liquid mixture until all mixed in.
  • Step 3
    Put 1/2 cup sugar in bowl, take a teaspoonful of batter and roll into ball then in the sugar. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 5 minutes. Take out of oven before they go flat.
