Ingredients
- CREAM
- 1 cup molasses/sorghum
- 1 cup lard (no substitutions)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ADD
- 1 cup boiling water in which 4 teaspoons baking soda has been dissolved
- MIX ABOVE INGREDIENTS WELL, ADD
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 4 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
How To Make ginger cremes

Step 1Refrigerate overnight. Divide dough into 3 parts.

Step 2Using lots of flour, roll out about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes; sprinkle with sugar before baking.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees on a well greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes until slightly brown on edges but still soft by the fingertip test (touch lightly, if done it will spring right back).
