ginger creams cookies

This recipe came from my grand mother Delleplain. Thay are a really good cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup ( hot ) water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cimmamon
  • VANILLA BUTTER FROSTING
  • 3 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk

How To Make ginger creams cookies

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses,and hot water together .
  • Step 2
    Blend in remaining ingredents , and cover the bowl of cookie mix with platic wrap and set in the fridge and chill for one hour.
  • Step 3
    Heat oven to 400 degrees, drop cookie dough by teaspoon 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Step 4
    When cookies are cooled frost with vanilla butter frosting.
  • Step 5
    Vanilla Butter Frosting : mix the ingredents for the frosting together spread over cooled cookies, set to dry and enjoy.
