Who doesn't love ginger cookies.....well you'll really enjoy these.

Ingredients

  • COOKIES
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • - easy creamy icing
  • EASY CREAMY ICING
  • 1 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or other flavoring
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cream or 1tbsp water

How To Make ginger creams

  • Step 1
    Cookie recipe: Mix shortening,sugar,egg,molasses, and water thoroughly. Measure out flour. Stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Chill dough.
  • Step 2
    Heat oven to 400. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake about 8 minutes, or until almost no imprint remains when lightly touched. While still warm, frost with lemon or vanilla flavored icing.
  • Step 3
    Easy Creamy Icing recipe: Blend sugar,salt and flavoring (try lemon,almond or peppermint flavoring for variety). Add cream to make easy to spread. Spread on cookies with spatula or pastry brush.
