Who doesn't love ginger cookies.....well you'll really enjoy these.

Ingredients

  • COOKIES

  • 1/3 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • ·
    easy creamy icing
  • EASY CREAMY ICING

  • 1 c
    sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla or other flavoring
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    cream or 1tbsp water

How to Make Ginger Creams

Step-by-Step

  1. Cookie recipe: Mix shortening,sugar,egg,molasses, and water thoroughly. Measure out flour. Stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Chill dough.
  2. Heat oven to 400. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake about 8 minutes, or until almost no imprint remains when lightly touched. While still warm, frost with lemon or vanilla flavored icing.
  3. Easy Creamy Icing recipe: Blend sugar,salt and flavoring (try lemon,almond or peppermint flavoring for variety). Add cream to make easy to spread. Spread on cookies with spatula or pastry brush.
