Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 cup dark molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- EASY ICING
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoon cream or milk
How To Make ginger creams

Step 1Preheat oven to 400.

Step 2In a large bowl cream shortening and sugar, add egg, molasses, and water.

Step 3In a medium bowl sift together flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves.

Step 4Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions until just combine.

Step 5Chill for 1-2 hours.

Step 6Drop 1tspn. of dough 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until set (almost no imprint remains when touched lightly)

Step 7For icing combine powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and cream wisk until smooth.

Step 8Frost cookies while still slightly warm.
