Super soft gingerbread cookies with a sweet creamy icing.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 cup dark molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • EASY ICING
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoon cream or milk

How To Make ginger creams

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl cream shortening and sugar, add egg, molasses, and water.
  • Step 3
    In a medium bowl sift together flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • Step 4
    Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions until just combine.
  • Step 5
    Chill for 1-2 hours.
  • Step 6
    Drop 1tspn. of dough 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until set (almost no imprint remains when touched lightly)
  • Step 7
    For icing combine powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and cream wisk until smooth.
  • Step 8
    Frost cookies while still slightly warm.
