This recipe are from my good friend's mother. They are by far my favorite cookie for the holidays. They are additive. I make several batches.

  • 1 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/4 c
  • 4 Tbsp
    dark molasses
  • 1
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp

How to Make Ginger Cookies--Thin and delicate!


  1. Mix the first 4 ingredients well; add dry ingredients and mix well.
  2. Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into a ball and flatten on a well-greased cookie sheet with the bottom of a tumbler dipped in sugar. Cookies are VERY thin.
  3. Bake at 325° F. about 12 minutes. These may be decorated as desired for Christmas cookies. Yields about 5 dozen cookies.
