Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup softened butter - no substitute
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

How To Make ginger cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350
  • Step 2
    Combine dry ingredients
  • Step 3
    In large mixing bowl beat butter for 30 sec
  • Step 4
    Add 1 cup sugar
  • Step 5
    Beat until fluffy
  • Step 6
    Add egg and molasses
  • Step 7
    Beat well
  • Step 8
    Add 1/2 flour mixture
  • Step 9
    Beat until combined
  • Step 10
    Stir in remaining flour with wooden spoon
  • Step 11
    Shape into 1 inch balls
  • Step 12
    Roll in sugar
  • Step 13
    Put on cookie sheet
  • Step 14
    Bake 10 minutes
  • Step 15
    Cool on cookie sheet 2 minutes before moving to wire rack
