gay delights (oatmeal cookies)

Ingredients

• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup white sugar
• 4 - eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• CREAM ABOVE TOGETHER
• ADD
• 1 bunch applesauce (2 cups)
• MIX IN
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 4 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon allspice
• 1/2 teaspoon ginger
• 2 teaspoons nutmeg
• 4 1/4 cups flour
• 2 cups oatmeal, uncooked
• STIR IN THE FOLLOWING
• 2 cups raisins or chocolate chips or both
• 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts
