My mother used to make these cookies when I was young. I remember the sweet smell of the cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. She would bake them and then put them in my favorite Teddy Bear cookie jar. THE BEST!!!

Ingredients
- 2 cups raisins
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup oatmeal, uncooked
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How To Make gae delights

Step 1Boil together raisins and water until raisins are tender. Remove from heat. Save 1/2 c water for later.

Step 2Sift together flour baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves nutmeg and salt. Set aside

Step 3Cream together Brown sugar and shortening. Add the 2 eggs.

Step 4Add dry ingredients including oatmeal, alternating with the 1/2 cup of reserved raisin water.

Step 5Strain off the remaining juice from the raisins. Add raisins.

Step 6Bake on greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes @ 375o.
