This was the first recipe that my grandmother let me help make. It is still one of my favorites, even though I am now diabetic & have to watch what I eat. It is always a big hit when taken to parties.

Add to Grocery List

3/4 c
granulated sugar
1/2 c
evaporated milk
2 Tbsp
butter or margarine
6 oz
chocolate or butterscotch morsels
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 c
1 1/4 c
1/2 c
chopped walnuts

How to Make Fudgy Macaroons

  • 1Mix sugar, milk and butter; cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. Boil two more minutes, stirring constantly.
  • 2Remove from heat and add chocolate or butterscotch morsels and vanilla. Stir until morsels melt.
  • 3Blend in cornflakes, coconut, and nuts. Drop by tablespoon onto waxed paper.

    Let stand until set.
    Makes 4-5 dozen pieces.
  • 4Recently, I replaced the cornflakes with Special K Cinnamon/Pecan and Honey Bunches of Oats w/Almonds. I am also pretty liberal with the coconut & nuts -- frequently use both walnuts & pecans. Also, used a combination of vanilla & almond extract. There is so much that you can do with this recipe to make it yours!
