  • 3/4 c
    cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2/3 c
    vegetable oil (note: split oil into (2) 1/3 cup portions
  • 1/2 c
    boiling water
  • 2 c
  • 2
  • 1 1/3 c
    unsifted, all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp

How to Make Fudgy Brownies


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place 1 cup water in small saucepan and heat to boiling.
  2. Stir cocoa and baking soda together in mixing bowl.
  3. Blend in 1/3 cup of the vegetable oil into cocoa mixture.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of boiling water; stir until mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in sugar, eggs, and remaining 1/3 c. Oil; stir until smooth.
  6. Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely.
  7. Pour into lightly greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool and frost with chocolate frosting.
