Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose
- 2/3 cup any flavor of jam or preserves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
How To Make fruit thumbprint cookies

Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.

Step 2Seperate the egg from the yolk- hold back egg white.

Step 3Cream butter, sugar and egg yolk.

Step 4Add vanilla extract, flour and salt. Mix really well.

Step 5Shape dough into balls - rolls balls in the egg whites. Place dough on cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.

Step 6Bake for 5 minutes.

Step 7Remove cookies from oven- press thumb into the center of each cookie- then fill the thumbprint with your choice of preserves or jam.

Step 8Bake another 8 minutes until lightly browned.
