I am probably one of the few people who enjoy fruitcake. This recipe is very similar to that.

Ingredients For fruit drop cookies

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/4 c
    sour cream
  • 1 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1 c
    finely snipped dates*
  • 1/2 c
    raisins
  • 1/2 c
    chopped candied cherries*
  • candied cherry halves (optional)

How To Make fruit drop cookies

  • 1
    Cream butter, sugar and eggs; blend in sour cream.

    Stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cloves; add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, nuts, dates, raisins and cherries.

    Drop by teaspoonsful 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with candied cherry half, if desired.

    Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on rack. Makes 5 dozen.

    NOTE: When I make these, I reduce the amount of dates to 1/2 cup and candied cherries to 1/4 cup.
