I am probably one of the few people who enjoy fruitcake. This recipe is very similar to that.

1/2 c
butter
1 c
sugar
2
eggs
1/4 c
sour cream
1 1/4 c
all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
cloves
1 c
quick cooking oats
1 c
chopped pecans
1 c
finely snipped dates*
1/2 c
raisins
1/2 c
chopped candied cherries*
candied cherry halves (optional)

How to Make Fruit Drop Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream butter, sugar and eggs; blend in sour cream.
  • 2Stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cloves; add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, nuts, dates, raisins and cherries.
  • 3Drop by teaspoonsful 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with candied cherry half, if desired.
  • 4Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on rack. Makes 5 dozen.
  • 5NOTE: When I make these, I reduce the amount of dates to 1/2 cup and candied cherries to 1/4 cup.
