Fresh Apple Brownies

I got this recipe at a local apple festival a couple of years ago. These cookie bars are not overly sweet and the chunks of apple in them makes them chewy, fresh, and delicious.

butter, room temperature
1 1/2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
2 large
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 c
1 tsp
2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
1 c
peeled chopped apples
1 c
chopped walnuts (optional)
powdered sugar

How to Make Fresh Apple Brownies


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Add flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir well. Stir in apples and nuts.
  • 2Spread batter into a greased 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until brownies test done with a toothpick and slightly browned on top.

    Cool completely. Dust top of the brownies with powdered sugar and cut into 24 squares.
