fresh apple brownies

I got this recipe at a local apple festival a couple of years ago. These cookie bars are not overly sweet and the chunks of apple in them makes them chewy, fresh, and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup peeled chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • - powdered sugar

How To Make fresh apple brownies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Add flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir well. Stir in apples and nuts.
  • Step 2
    Spread batter into a greased 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until brownies test done with a toothpick and slightly browned on top. Cool completely. Dust top of the brownies with powdered sugar and cut into 24 squares.
