It's called 4 in 1 because you can divide the dough and add a variety of things to get different results. Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening or margarine, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 - eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups uncooked oats
- 1 cup add on of your choice
How To Make four-in-one cookies

Step 1Beat shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla together until creamy.

Step 2Sift together flour, soda and salt and add to creamed mixture; blend well.

Step 3Stir in oats and shape to form 1-inch balls.

Step 4Place on greased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.

Step 5Bake in preheated moderate oven (350) 12 to 15 minutes.

Step 6Cool about 2 minutes, then remove cookies from cookie sheet.

Step 7For variety, add 1 cup of... raisins, salted peanuts, semi-sweet chocolate pieces or flaked or shredded coconut with the oats.
