This is a recipe for a cookie that you would know as Biscotti, however, do not put filling into this recipe as it contains lemon. This is the stand alone biscotti dough. However, you can use the other recipe (Biscotti, seeded) that is in JAP if you want to fill it with fig or almond pie filling.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 stick butter or 1/2 c crisco
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar, minus 1 t
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla or anise
  • - lemon
  • - milk
  • 1/2 cup nuts

  • Step 1
    Use 1/16 th of the lemon. Add milk to batter if needed. Used almonds for this recipe, but any type of nuts would work. Spoon thick batter into 6 logs. Bake at 400 degrees 5-10 min on bottom and 5-10 min on top racks. As was her habit, this recipe was a revised one in Sept of 95.
