Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or butter flavored shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
How To Make european shortbread

Step 1Cream sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla. Add flour mix well. Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut into rectangles or use a shortbread mold. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

Step 2I use this the basis for many variations. Sometimes I add nuts. Sometime chopped cranberries or grated orange or lemon peel.
