easy chocolate caramel cookie bars
(1 RATING)
If you like Twix, you're going to love this simply delicious, three ingredient, homemade version. These cookies are a favorite of kids and adults alike. Crispy the first day, the graham crackers soften if stored in an airtight container, but, if my family is any indication, they won't last that long. Come to think of it, if you'd actually like to sample one yourself, you might want to "family size" the recipe by doubling it. This recipe works equally well with smooth peanut butter in place of the caramel, depending on your preference.

Ingredients
- 10 - whole graham crackers
- 1/2 cup dulce de leche (approximately)
- 6 ounces baker's german's sweet chocolate
How To Make easy chocolate caramel cookie bars
-
Step 1Line cookie sheet with wax paper.
-
Step 2Break graham crackers into individual pieces, using a sharp knife along scored lines.
-
Step 3Spread one piece with approximately 1 tsp. dulce de leche and top with another graham cracker, pressing gently together. Smooth sides where caramel may have seeped out, if necessary. Repeat with remaining graham crackers and caramel.
-
Step 4Break chocolate into squares along scored lines. Melt in double boiler or in microwave in medium bowl until smooth.
-
Step 5Using small tongs, grip each graham cracker sandwich by sides and dip in chocolate. Shake off excess chocolate to prevent pooling and place on cookie sheet to cool. Chocolate will set in approximately 15-30 minutes or less. (Process can be accelerated by briefly refrigerating.) Serve or store in airtight container.
