this is my sister in law's recipe and is posted how she wrote it.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 - egg
2 tablespoons milk

How To Make drop sugar cookies

Step 1

Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 2

Cream together butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla.
Step 3

Add 1 egg and cream until mixture is fluffy.
Step 4

Stir dry ingredients until mixture is smooth. then blend in the milk.
Step 5

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; flatten with the bottom of water glass which has been dipped in sugar.
Step 6

Bake in 400 degree oven for 12 minutes ( or until brown).
Step 7

Makes about 5 1/2 dozen 2" cookies.
