My grown granddaughter, Tara laughed her head off when she saw my old yellowed, butter stained recipe card from when I was about 14!! LOL So of course we HAD to make these bars! We of course took pictures (she's the techie). Everyone ohhed and ahhed and closed their eyes as they ate them!! Hope you love them too!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 1/2 cups coconut, shredded
- 1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- PINNEAPPLE FILLING
- 1 cup pineapple, crushed with juice
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, fresh
How To Make dream bars

Step 1Heat oven to 350. Butter and flour 9" square pan.

Step 2Cream together butter and sugar; add coconut, flour and salt; mix until crumbly. Press 1/2 of crumb mixture firmly in 9" pan.

Step 3Pinneapple Filling: In a sauce pan, mix together pineapple, sugar, cornstarch and salt; bring to a boil. Cook until thickened and clear (about 5 minutes), stirring constantly. Remove from heat; blend in butter and lemon juice; cool slightly.

Step 4Spread filling evenly over crumb mixture.

Step 5Cover with remaining crumb mixture; press top layer down firmly (it will feel giggely). Bake 35 minutes in middle of oven.
