Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    soft butter
  • 1/2 c
    light brown sugar,firmly packed
  • 1 c
    flour
  • FILLING

  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar,firmly packed
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 c
    coconut
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts or pecans

How to Make Dream Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. For the cookie crust: Cream together butter and sugar,with wooden spoon until smooth. With hands work in flour until mixture is smooth.
    Pat into bottom of 13 by 9 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden. Cool on wire rack.
  2. Meanwhile make Filling.
    In small bowl beat eggs until light at medium speed. Gradually add sugar. Add vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt until combined. Stir in coconut and nuts. Spread evenly over cooled crust. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden and firm to touch. With sharp knife cut into bars while still warm.
