I developed this recipe when I was having major chocolate cravings after having my daughter, It turned out way better then I could have imagined, my husband loves them and so do I, they are the perfect cookie for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

1/2 c
shortening
1 c
sugar
1
egg
3/4 c
buttermilk
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 1/2 c
flour
1/2 c
cocoa powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips

PEANUT BUTTER ICING

1 c
powdered sugar
1/2 c
peanut butter
1 Tbsp
milk
1 pinch
salt

How to Make Double Chocolate Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 400.
  • 2Cream shortening and surgar, add egg mix well, add buttermilk and vanilla mix well.
  • 3Sift together dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingridients in about three additions until just combine, fold in chocolate chips.
  • 4Chill dough for 1-2 hours
  • 5Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet bake until set (almost no imprint remains when touched lightly) about 8-10 min.
  • 6For icing wisk together powdered sugar, peanut butter, milk and salt until smooth.
