double chocolate cookies

I developed this recipe when I was having major chocolate cravings after having my daughter, It turned out way better then I could have imagined, my husband loves them and so do I, they are the perfect cookie for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • PEANUT BUTTER ICING
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 pinch salt

How To Make double chocolate cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400.
  • Step 2
    Cream shortening and surgar, add egg mix well, add buttermilk and vanilla mix well.
  • Step 3
    Sift together dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingridients in about three additions until just combine, fold in chocolate chips.
  • Step 4
    Chill dough for 1-2 hours
  • Step 5
    Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet bake until set (almost no imprint remains when touched lightly) about 8-10 min.
  • Step 6
    For icing wisk together powdered sugar, peanut butter, milk and salt until smooth.
