I developed this recipe when I was having major chocolate cravings after having my daughter, It turned out way better then I could have imagined, my husband loves them and so do I, they are the perfect cookie for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 3/4 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • PEANUT BUTTER ICING

  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c
    peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 pinch
    salt

How to Make Double Chocolate Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 400.
  2. Cream shortening and surgar, add egg mix well, add buttermilk and vanilla mix well.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingridients in about three additions until just combine, fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Chill dough for 1-2 hours
  5. Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet bake until set (almost no imprint remains when touched lightly) about 8-10 min.
  6. For icing wisk together powdered sugar, peanut butter, milk and salt until smooth.
