1 lbland o lake butter salted
3 1/2 cpillsburry flour
1 1/2 cdomino white sugar
2 tspvanilla extract
1/2 tspoptional add in-- lemon zest
1/2 tspoptional add in-- cinnamon
How to Make Delicious melt in yout mouth butter cookies
- Cream room temperature butter with sugar until light and fluffy on medium with an electric mixer. Add Vanilla and one of the add ins if you so choose. The cookies are great alone and only get better with one of the add ins.
- Sift flour and combine with creamed butter mixture , decrease speed to low. Scrapping down sides often to keep mixture combined.
- Place cookies on sheet with at least 1 inch in between, they will spread. With 2 fingers dusted with confectioners(powder) sugar flatten the cookie down gently
- Bake cookies in a 400 degree oven on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone liner until light golden brown. Do not leave the kitchen watch the cookies so they don't burn. they should bake in 10-12 minutes. I use a cookie scooper (looks like a small ice cream scoop)
