These go back many years and keep well just stored in an old stone crock or pottery jar. An old twist on sugar cookies for a treat.

Ingredients
- 1 cup crisco (butter flavored)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 cups brown sugar (light)
- 2 large eggs(beaten)
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
How To Make crock cookies

Step 1Combine crisco, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg. Add brown sugar and cream well. Add beaten egss and mix well. Add 1/2 the flour and the soda and milk and mix well. Add the remaining flour and (optional) nuts.

Step 2Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 6 to 8 minutes. (depending on if you want softer cookies or crisper cookies). These make also be dropped from a teaspoon (softer cookies)and baked or dropped from teaspoon and patted with wet fork (for thinner-crispier cookies.

Step 3I grew up with the thin patted ones, but have made the softer ones many times and they are just as tasty.
