1Combine crisco, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg. Add brown sugar and cream well. Add beaten egss and mix well. Add 1/2 the flour and the soda and milk and mix well. Add the remaining flour and (optional) nuts.
2Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 6 to 8 minutes. (depending on if you want softer cookies or crisper cookies). These make also be dropped from a teaspoon (softer cookies)and baked or dropped from teaspoon and patted with wet fork (for thinner-crispier cookies.
3I grew up with the thin patted ones, but have made the softer ones many times and they are just as tasty.
