Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar (plus extra for rolling cookies)
  • 3/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

How To Make crispy chewy gingersnaps

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, combine sugar, margarine, molasses and egg and blend well.
  • Step 3
    Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off. Combine with remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill dough so it will be easier to handle.
  • Step 4
    Roll dough into 1-inch balls and then roll in sugar. Cookies should be placed 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake 9-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
