I've been making these bars for years and it's become the most requested one at covered dish luncheons. It's east to carry and very rich and moist.......enjoy.

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine (softened)
  • 3
  • 1
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1 c
    coconut, flaked sweetened
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips (or whatever flavor you like)

How to Make CONGO BARS


  1. Mix all ingredients together well and pour into a greased and floured 9x13" pan and bake at 350* until tooth pick comes out clean ( appx. 1 hr). Cool and cut into 1 or 2" squares.
