I don't know why these are called "colonial"--but they're easy and delicious.

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 pound salted spanish peanuts
How To Make colonial peanut butter oatmeal cookies

Step 1Cream shortening and add sugar gradually.

Step 2Add vanilla and eggs and beat well.

Step 3Sift flour and soda; add to mixture.

Step 4Add rolled oats and peanuts; mix well.

Step 5Shape dough into small balls and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Step 6Bake for 7 minutes at 425.
